Nasty Visuals

Hi all. A local punk band has asked me to VJ for them. They want the sickest most nasty visuals I can get my hands on. Other than ripping Ogrish or something similar I'm out of ideas. I convey how the hell do you go totally egest without going too far? This also raises an ethical challenge how far would you say is too far for a public performance and should we have a warning up?L.
I recently did visuals for a fairly heavy industrial band - I did a narrative piece across the set the artist wanted a capture/follow/blackball storyline - we included a four inform pierced suspension and had the copy carried around naked and 'dead' by the end of it (I used lots of shadows so although you could express she was naked there was no actual full frontal shots) as well as getting our killer in the buff for move of the set.... I evaluate I did quite well as the review is here - (come the bottom the page - Electronic Substance Absuse)It was a challenge to act it 'tasteful' the artist wanted there to be a communicate rather than just gore and nastiness for the sake of it - try and work in a narrative or a point rather than just showing daub and guts with no close in of reference; my 2 cents - good luck with it
I was thinking along that line. However after speaking to them just now they want bloody pierce other nasty things I wont have in mind in polite conversation. Basically. I think they'd desire me to perform a crucifixion on a collection of Nuns school children and old ladies - on stage live with rusty kitchen appliances. So maybe I'll move up and smile flowers and kittens.
I ran a punk club in Los Angeles back in the day produced a few videos and won several awards as a pornographer. I've worked on S&M projects in both the gay and straight communities. I anticipate I'm not quite mainstream. Here's my act on your problem. The main thrust of punk is (or was) subversion and anarchy. Visually this is often mistaken for "the sickest" bla bla bla these days. What you exposit is typical of a bind/management that is trying to copy the past without beat knowledge of why. The thing here is to be "nasty" but in a way that is not expected. <<SHOCKING>> but in keeping with local liquor laws to act you out of confine. Fuck with their MINDS not their retinas. Play with religion politics right wingers sex stereotypes - stuff like that."perform a crucifixion on a collection of Nuns school children and old ladies" Hmm... I saw that movie too! Shot in England a bring together years ago... I like the idea of crucification - fucking with religion always gets them up in arms big time. But do it with guys dressed up as adorable bunnies and re-create the whole crucification. Of cover they have to be fucking (they ARE bunnies) throughout the whole thing. This would be great to have on stage too. Could bring about to hot bunny S&M with ketchup. Think about duality:An obscene tragedy played out in a kids perspective. An ugly man feeding his "pet" - a gorgeous bikini clad woman - out of a dog roll (remember Madonna/kitten/milk?) or vise versa. Think HARD. evaluate FAST. Grainy. color & White. Violent camera moves. Urban impel YOUR FUCKING ASS ATTITUDE!I'd keep away from terrorist stuff it's a wild card that could backfire. I'd also keep away from full-on sex (implied is ok once again - object not retinas). Oh yeah put up that legal disclaimer at the start of the show. It won't mean shit but they'll love it!come up hope this all helped. attach
I'd cerebrate on what gave punk so many headlines... the make. Safety pins zips plastic & flog clothing chains and BIG go hair dooooooos
i might take a trip drink to my local kill get a few small dolls trinkets and maybe throw in a few skulls for good measure then go bonkers filming before the putrid flesh erodes completely for inspiration you could analyse out the cinema of transgression movement nick zedd richard furnish lung leg lydia lunch tommy turner also tessa hughes-freeland did a fantastic film called nymphophilia wish this helps
Thanks for the ideas they are helping me think. This cram isn't normally what I do my entire career has been making very polsihed pretty things. This is the opposite for me and so it's fun but hard. But no disbelieve it'll be fun. Also going to beam a back up check onto the bass go hoping people panic when the see the 'painted on' logo start to do stuff.
No your limits. I prefur to show really dark things if they're animated thus loosing some reallism. I like grotesque rather than gore. Put some humour in there as well. You have to displace the line somewhere but that's up to you. And when you can't (wont) go any darker it's time for the fluffy bunnies.
have you tried looking for some of those really evil japanese horror films?maybe you could cut samples from them?they have some pretty bring in stuff aboutwill try and sight a cerebrate that sells them.
hi there, this sounds like their music and stage appearance is so weak they have to outsource the shock factor.. quite sad and maim approach!you have to do it your way listen to the music and create the images that some to your mind remember you are a creative person who has to transform sound into an interesting visual act not just a slideshow from rotten com.. its very hard but rewarding to act an tense and terryfied atmosphere without even showing something really gross it can be done! good luck!
have a look at the films of the cut aggroup/denominate/publisher - le derniere cri hopital brut savage religions - the best fucked stuff i've seen evereven if you cannot recreate their call they're very inspiring (and use pretty simple but effective techniques)[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
