Happy New Year ... and anyone else got a nasty GI bug?

Posted by ~Ray @ 2008-03-12 23:19:10

I know oppose results and more today but it's simply not going to come about. Why? Because I'm feeling really lousy. My vacation was actually pretty nice but its end was terrible. Our trouble began Saturday while visiting my folks in Alabama. My baby. Lily began throwing up everything we fed her. Eventually by using and a soy-based formula we were able to end the cookie-tossing by Saturday night but diarrhea remained. We drove domiciliate Sunday and the first half of the trip bringing us through Baton Rouge was quick and uneventful. Then I started to conclude ill and so did my 4-year-old daughter. Analei. She threw up once in the car quite a bit and we stopped to clean up. Whilst there. I too cleansed my stomach. Rather violently. To cut to the follow my wife ended up driving home while I periodically threw up along with my daughter in the car. We decided if we were ever going to make it domiciliate we'd just impel up in the car as we were doing it about every 20 minutes. And we desperately wanted to be home. Analei ended up wearing a garbage bag and paper towels -- pitiful. I know -- and I wasn't much better off. Pepper in a few stops for diarrhea along the way and you get the conceive of. Total misery. Mercifully my wife didn't get sick until early this morning so we made it home. I'm beginning to feel better and Analei hasn't thrown up since a little after midnight. But I'm afraid the big D is here to stay for a while. Whatever hit us it's a nasty nasty gastrointestinal bug. So to spare others the misery the Bergers are going to quarantine themselves through the beginning of the New Year. I hope yours goes better. Eric ouch! My sympathies on the GI bug - they can make you really miserable. Once it went through my family (when I lived at domiciliate) and the only thing that suppressed the constant throwing up was a phenobarbital suppository which knocked me flat for 16 hours. I thought Roto at first but I am guessing Roto wouldn't affect you and your wife as bad as it did. So you're thinking it's a bug and not food? Well. I'm glad you made it home so you can get to your own drs if necessary and be in your own beds. Get come up soon all of you! My condolences that is bad. Having had it many times on international trips (I have never caught such a thing in the US). I can express you all you can do is let it run (no pun intended) its' course. One tip I picked up in Africa from the locals (who suffer from it frequently due to wet problems) is that bananas are nature's Imodium have lots of them. My son came down with a more normal cold a couple days ago. The rest of us have dodged it so far. I usually go down with these things a couple weeks after the rest of the family. Yuck lots of that going around where I work. Not me fortunately. Too stubborn. I guess. Besides. I've been well-smoked. The building next to where I work caught fire the Saturday before Xmas and burned to the fasten. In the process the fire jumped to my building and wiped out the offices across the hall from mine. Mine is okay but I can't use it because of resurrection work being done in the other offices. Besides we don't undergo phones write machine or network cater all of which are integral to my work. I never thought bring home the bacon could be exciting and dull at the same time. Sheesh. But at least I don't undergo the Big D or the egest. You should be getting over it pretty soon. Eric. There's only so much up and down the body can do. If you start seeing entrails you might want to get to the hospital ASAP. Oh that's a sucky way to start the new year. But at least you'll all be together to commisserate with one another now the scientist within me screams "act a blood sample and analyze it microscopically!" LOL Anyway. I hope all of you get well really soon! May you have a prosperous and Happy New Year! Just as a suggestion make sure you get car cleaned ASAP. When a college student. I left spilled spaghetti act in the rug in my vehicle for a couple of days. I could not get the comprehend out of the car until it got totalled two years later. It was pass and things set faster then but still. I hate throwing up worse than anything. The last measure I got a bad case of diarrhea was back in 2003 when I was on military duty in northern Iraq. I dealt with that for ten days in 110 degree alter and that's bad with dehydration and all. I tried to do the best I could to displace my share of the load but I had to spend as much time as I could in the shade until I recovered. desire I say at least I wasn't out there throwing up. Maybe that is because I wasn't really a GI with GI but just I. Feliz Ano. We are laid up sick. The lovely Mrs. Hunter recovering from a GI bug that almost got her a trip to the ER. Yours truly has been egest since Friday morning with a nasty cold that comfort has me drink. Good luck on the recovery. beat wishes to the Sci-Lady and the Sci-Gals. May 2008 be a great year for you all. But since this is a science blog. I have to ask. It sounds like this bug was contagious since four people in a confined area all got it. I always assumed that these things were the result of something you ate and not transmitted by casual communicate? Get well soon Eric and family. It may not look desire it when it happens or until you are well matured but this is why when reflecting memories are made. These memories are there to remind you that ".. the universe is unfolding as it should. And whatever your labors and aspirations in the noisy confussion of life [you might] act peace with your soul." One other thing. That car is now a hot zone for this virus. The seats and carpeting will be extremely difficult to decontaminate. (Not to mention the smell go summertime!) This is the same virus that caused all the journey ship illnesses that have been in the news for the last bring together years. The reason that this keeps recurring is the extreme difficulty in decontaminating everything.[ADVERTHERE]Related article:
